Why Build Through Attraction Marketing or Internet Network Marketing?

Wouldn't it be awesome to have people coming to YOU, with credit card in hand, ready to join you in your network marketing opportunity?  I will share my story of why I decided to focus on building my business 100% through attraction marketing.

I start off going to college to play soccer.  I couldn't decide on a major, and wanted something challenging, so I decided on Computer Science.  I started to doubt if I would be happy working primarily with machines, but the money was good so I finished up my degree to take on the world!

5 years later, I found myself increasingly dissatisfied with my software engineering career, even though I had made as much as $96,000/year.  I was more of a "people person", and sitting behind a machine for 8+ hours/day, every day of the week, was not exciting to me.  I started a smoothie franchise, and my road into entrepreneurship had begun.

Somewhere around 2003 I ended up in sales.  I become very successful in sales, and was enjoying my career more than ever, mostly because I was able to work with people every day, and also was challenged by the "numbers game".

I started to realize that while sales was cool because I could control my income by becoming a better salesperson and working harder/more hours...I would never be able to have time freedom as my income was directly controlled only by my own efforts.

This lead me to Robert Allen's book, "Multiple Streams of Income", and the concept of growing a network marketing business.  A network marketing business could provide the vehicle for residual income, but Robert's book spoke of building such a business by using the internet to attract people to you. (Instead of working your "warm market" - You know - your friends, family, and acquaintainces.)

For the first year of my internet network marketing career, I attempted to do this.  I had moderate success, but none of my teams were "duplicating". (Which means I was able to bring others in, but no one else was able to bring people in themselves.)

I finally figured out a few "attraction marketing" techniques, but so far all of it was through trial and error.  I started to have a little success, and more importantly, some of the TEAM started to have success.

Fast forward several months later and we have a team of over 4,000 members in a single company. (Be mere chance, at this point I had also built a team "by accident" in another company to about 1,500 or so...more on this later)  This single company made a few changes, and merged into another company.  To make a long story short, about 10-15% of the members from my team were cut-off from their existing paychecks.

There were many very positive things that came from the company merger, but the VERY best thing my team received from this was the lesson that we MUST own our "own business".  One of my mentors, Mike Dillard, calls this owning "You, Inc."

If more of our team had owned their own lists and had owned their own business, then when 1 company made changes that affected them, they could simply "shift" things around and have their income be affected minimally.

Yes, network marketing is one of the BEST ways for the average person to become free from their job.  Yes, network marketing has set more people free from the rat race than any other business in the world.  But, there are countless numbers of people who have had a "non-You Inc." business, and have found out the hard way that attraction marketing is THE way to build your freedom and security. (including now myself and several people that I LOVE that were on my team.)

    To so summarize:

    • In the past 3 years I've gone from being in several companies at the same time, having no focus and not much success...
    • Then I moved onto focusing only on a single company and massive focus in just 1 area... (and I did experience full time income and success)
    • Then finally discovered "real" attraction marketing where I focus on just 1 "sales funnel", build a few streams of income at the same time, own my own list and business models, and experience a much more fulfilling freedom.

Thanks for your words Anne! I recommend to check out the Renegade information...it will help you focus in on how to properly promote targeted traffic. (and if you don't know which of your companies to promote, you can always promote to what all network marketers are looking for - more leads, higher advertising budget to spend online, and build your rep w/ them over time...which can "attract" them to you when the timing is right for them.)

That make total sense Jason. That is what I am building now and myself and my team are enjoying tremendous growth. It really is better to own a "You, Inc." Thanks for sharing!
